Okay, so January has been a very busy month for us so far. The week between Christmas and New Years Matt & I had to work, so Silas stayed with Nana and Popo. We decided we needed a project..we were just going to take down the wallpaper in the guest bathroom and then repaint it. Well the project grew and grew. So here we are with NOTHING in the bathroom now.

the other big thing that we did this month: Silas got a big boy haircut. Gone is my baby, here to stay a toddler.

So today (1/28) my work was cancelled due to the snow/sleet/ice issues---we had no electricity in the building. So Silas and I have been playing here at the house. I looked up and he had turned over the end table and was inside of it. (probably to ward off Twix who was intent on getting those goldfish)

While Silas was at Nana & Popos, he learned to use the ladder and play in the kitchen sink. Something he wants to do ALL the time now...thanks ever so much Nana! I'm sure our water company thanks you too for the increase in our bill!!

He is content for ever just pouring and pouring from one cup to another.

At one point he even crawled into the basket.

couple of tidbits:

1. Silas likes to help unload/load the dishwasher. You have to be on the lookout though, because sometimes he will unload the dirty dishes. He knows where the silverware goes and puts the dirties up for Mommy. Actually he loves just being helpful. He helps me with the socks and carrying his laundry to his room. He loves to hang up the empty hangers.

2. He also has figured out where the dry dog food is and all morning he was making loads from the pantry to the dogs bowls. Luckily he can only get like 5 pieces at a time, but still.. The dogs aren't complaining.

3. He has started throwing tempertantums. The other morning, he didn't want to get out of bed, so he threw one. I had to get down on the ground with him and force his clothes onto him. Then he didn't want to leave his room. He threw himself onto the ground and flipped and flopped like a fish the entire length of my den. The dogs couldn't figure out what was going on. Then he didn't want to get into his carseat. It took both Matt & I to force him into it. That evening when I picked him up from daycare I told Ms Nicole about our issues. So she said watch this and put him into his carseat. When he started to balk she told him he was being ugly and he sat down and let her do it. So maddening!!

4. He LOVES music. Beyonce's/Sasha Fierce's "shoulda put a ring on it" is his favorite. He "shakes his moneymaker". Apparantly a teenage babysitter taught him that one. It is hysterical to watch. I almost fell out of my chair laughing the first time he did that one.

5. He is very verbal now... Thankyouyourwelcome, Bessyou (bless you), Boo (aka Vander), Schwix (Twix), Nicker (Snickers), milk. He has a very large vocabulary and knows his manners. He knows a lot of body parts: tongue, teeth, chin, neck, ear, hair, eye, arm, finger, toes, belly button. He will tell you when he poops and is very interested when you are using the restroom.

6. He wants a coke when you go through a drive thru. So I started getting him a chocolate milk and telling him it was a coke. So far he is okay with that. I put it in his sippy cup and he drinks it.

7 He can count: 1 2 3 4 7 8 9 10. he says 7 "second" and he doesn't like the numbers 5 and 6. He counts things all the time. He is very proud when you spell his name. We even found a song with his name in it: How shall I send thee. I'm gonna send thee one by one....well, 2 x 2 is paul and silas. He finds it pretty funny.

8. He has figured out how to open doors and thinks this is very fun. Also, when he is really tired, he will say "comeon" and lead you to his room and his crib.

9. He LOVES the phone. He has the fake flip phone that he calls pocket (b/c GG taught him how to put it in his pocket). His favorite is probably the home phone though. So we often have it unplugged so that he can play with it. He has also figured out how to unlock our iphones. This kid is going to be as into technology as his dad!
