NYC 2009

Matt & I made our 2nd trekk to NYC this year December 18-21. We werent sure that we would be able to go, we had to get cleared through the OB 3 days before. But we passed the test & off we went. I flew literally through security--I had read up on all the extra precautions and things that you have to do when you are flying with needles/shots. The TSA agents were not too worried about that at all. We arrived at our gate (Matt ran ahead) just as they were calling last call. But we made it.

We had a blast in NYC. We saw 4 plays: Phantom of the Opera, ByeBye Birdie, Superior Donuts, and Gods of Carnage. All were fantastic, but I have to say ByeByeBirdie and Superior Donuts were my favorite.

One night at dinner in a cafe, we were seated next to a mother/daughter duo. If you have never been to NYC, you are seated thisclose to the table next to you, so you can't help but overhear their conversation. The daughter was telling the mom, "so we will land in Dallas at 12 tomorrow, what time will that put us back in Sherman". Matt and I both whipped around, Sherman? Did she really say Sherman? So we ended up striking up a conversation with them--it was a belated graduation gift for the daughter. Crazy how you run into people all the time! It really is a small world.

We walked to the World Trade Center bombing site. It is a very moving place to be, unfortunately it is not completed, but you can definitely see more this trip than last year. We also rode a horsedrawn carriage through Central Park. We went back to FAO Schwartz, we just missed the piano dancers. We wandered back to the hotel. Every night we went to the tree in Rockafeller Center. It is such a magical place. While we were there, the huge snow storm hit. NYC got about 12 inches of snow. We went into a play, and it was just starting to snow, we came out and it was almost blizzard-like. They definitely handle snow differently than Texas.
All in all it was a great trip--a great get away with my husband, a great last trip before #2!
